In use …

Out-of-the-box, the first thing you notice about the Maxi-Cosi Euro NXT is the quality. Everything looks and feels great, there’s no dangly strap or cords, every last detail has been considered.maxi-cosi-car-seat-nxt

The  Euro NXT”s safety features meets all Australian Safety Standards and include GCell technology which crumples in a way to absorb energy on impact and Air Protect which protects your baby’s head and neck in a side impact collision.  The Euro NXT also comes with an infant insert to keep your newborn safe & secure.

The Euro NXT can be installed using your car seatbelt or using ISOFIX adaptors. Either way, you are still required to use the back tether strap (which is the Australian Safety Standard).

We installed ours forward-facing and using the ISOFIX adaptors.  The Euro NXT features an adjustable base to best fit it to the contours of your vehicle seat, once you have the base right, you click the ISOFIX clips in and tighten the straps until you get an audible ‘click’ and the indicators on the clips go green.  The ISOFIX clips are flexible which make them easy to insert and you can tighten them until you get quite a firm installation.  Finally, you attach the tether strap.

The Euro NXT’s height/harness adjusting mechanisms is one, if not the, best I’ve used. Firstly, you don’t need to remove the seat from the car, it can all be done while the Euro is installed. It’s so easy, press in the two grey tabs at the top of the head-rest and pull up to the desired height. Adjusting the harness from the strap at the bottom is smooth and doesn’t take as much strength or effort as I’d expect.

The Euro NXT features a 5 position adjustable head rest and recline for your baby’s comfort.  The seat fabric is made from ‘cool baby’ wicking fabric to keep your baby cool & comfortable.  It’s quite a different feel from the velour car seat coverings I’m used to and it feels nice and soft to the touch.  Our toddler tester obviously finds the Euro NXT comfortable and secure.

The Euro is the first Maxi-Cosi car seat we’ve reviewed at Made 4 Baby and there are lots of little features that I like. The seat is quite deep, which makes it easier for your child to settle in, the harness clip cover pushes the harness clip forward so you’re less likely to need to pull it out from under your child’s bottom and the shoulder straps fit nicely right over the shoulders.

Finally, your Maxi-Cosi Euro NXT is easy to keep clean, the seat cover is removable and machine washable. You can even pop it in your drier for 15 minutes if you’re in a hurry.  The Euro NXT also comes with a messy mat that sits under the car seat to keep your vehicle seat clean.

Consider this …

The Maxi-Cosi Euro NXT is quite wide, especially at the height of your baby’s head.  It’s likely to cramp any passenger wedged next to it.

The verdict …

I’m really impressed with the Maxi-Cosi Euro NXT convertible car seat.  It’s a little bit more expensive than some products with similar features, but the attention to detail and the quality make the investment worth it.

Plus that easy to use harness and comfy fabric covering are two important features that have a big impact on use & comfort.
