REVIEW : KIINDE KOZII BREASTMILK & BABY FOOD WARMER

kozii-breastmilk-warmer-mad4baby

The Kozii is Kiinde’s breast milk warmer, but it’s also suitable to gently thaw & warm any meal for your baby or toddler.

The Kiinde Kozii milk warmer is the only milk & food warmer that uses a medium temperature water bath to warm your baby’s milk & food.

Price: $99.95

Availability:  Kiinde stockists

We love …

  • warms any bottle or breastmilk storage bags, formula or baby food
  • simple timer is easy to use (especially at night)
  • warm (not hot) water bath maintain nutrients in milk & food
  • keeps milk or food warm for an hour or more

In use …

The Kiinde Kozii is ready to use straight out of the box.  We filled the reservoir in the bottom (2 cups of water) and the Kozii was ready to warm the variety of home and commercially prepared bottled and pouched milk & baby food we had ready to go.

The Kiinde Kozii operates using a timer system, so we popped our milk and food in & set the timer.  The Kozii fills with warm water to gently heat the milk & food.  When the time is up, the water drains and the bag or bottle dries, ready for dinner time.

Being the scientific super-minds that we are (my toddler tester & I), we compared the Kozii to a boiled water & bowl bath.  We found, on average, the Kozii took no more than 30 seconds extra to warm the milk or food and it was easier to use because we had to roll our bottles or food pouches around in the bowl and shake them to get them evenly warm.

Plus, the Kiinde Kozii uses warm water, not boiling water, so you get an even temperature throughout your milk & food and it won’t overheat. Warm water doesn’t break down plastics like boiling water, high temperature steam and microwaves do.

You can clean the Kiinde Kozii with a damp cloth & you’ll need to refill the reservoir about once every 5 uses. The Kozii is also a compact unit, it doesn’t take up much bench space and it’s easy to store.

Finally, during our testing, we found an unexpected advantage.  When left in the Kozii warmer (after the water bath has finished), your baby’s feed will stay warm for at least an hour.  Really helpful if you want to prepare a feed in advance or your baby is a finicky eater.

Consider this …

Various different feeds … breastmilk/food … fresh/refrigerated/frozen … glass bottle/plastic bottle/pouch, take different times to warm.  You may need to experiment with your Kozii to find the right time to warm your baby’s feed.  On average, though, a frozen pouch of breast milk (150mls) will take 8 minutes to thaw & warm.

Food pouches tend to stand out of the top of the Kiinde Kozii warmer.  You might have to turn them over in the unit if they are frozen (you won’t have this problem with frozen milk).

Always check the temperature of your baby’s milk or food before feeding.

The verdict …

The Kiinde Kozii breast milk & food warmer is super easy to use and convenient.   You can’t overheat your breastmilk or baby’s feed and the Kozii will maintain the food temperature for over an hour.

I love that it maintains the nutrients in the milk after it has been heated up, I would hate that my baby can’t get what he needs out of the milk he deserves.

This product sounds fantastic. It’s great that the warmer shuts off automatically to keep from overheating the bottle. I also love the fact that asides from the bottle the Kiinde warmer can also handle storage bags, food jars, and more.

This looks amazing! Warming milk in the microwave is always tricky and if you heat it too much you have a screaming baby waiting very impatiently for the milk to cool a bit, and I love that it can also keep the milk warm for an hour so that I can be prepared!
