baby first shoes

Bare feet are best for your baby until they are an established walker. However sometimes little feet need to be kept warm and protected, particularly when your baby first starts to waddle about.

Buying baby’s first shoes
The best first shoes for crawlers and new walkers are the soft soled slipper style of shoe. They don’t have any structure which is best for growing feet. Sizes come in 0-6, 6-12 and 12-18 months.

First shoes should have flexible non slip soles, if you can bend the toe to the heel they are suitable for your new walker. Don’t worry if your baby’s shoe sizes are a little bit too large for them, it’s good have growing room and the shoe will fold around the end of your baby’s foot.

Elasticised ankles prevent your baby getting their new shoes off and as your baby’s feet sweat more than yours; first shoes should be made from breathable materials.

Babies should not be put in hard soled shoes until at least six weeks of confident walking. On average your baby’s foot will grow two sizes each year until they are about 5 years old.

Vanessa loves great design. Beauty, function and innovation get her excited. When she’s not hunting down the next big baby idea, she’s busy with her day job and being a mum to her 3 lovely boys.
