Australia Day is an important day to recognise those of us who rise above the everyday to make our community a better place. As parents, it’s an important day to say thanks to the hard-working and brave supporters of organisations like Camp Quality.
It’s hard to get your mind around kids with cancer. For me, it’s generally being thankful that my kids are healthy, beyond that it gets scary & hard.
Imagine then, how hard it would be to have your life defined by cancer. When you should be playing, learning, growing, your life revolves around hospitals, doctors and illness. That’s why brave organisations like Camp Quality make such a difference.
Camp Quality has been supporting kids with cancer, and their families for over 30 years. They run programs in schools & hospitals and recreation programs for kids designed to build resilience, optimism and strong, supportive relationships.
Most importantly, Camp Quality focuses on fun, encouraging kids to embrace life and look forward to opportunities.
At the moment, Camp Quality supports 1 in every 3 kids diagnosed with cancer, and their families. In the near future they intend to extend their services to support even more families, including kids who have parents with cancer.
There’s plenty of ways you can support Camp Quality celebrate childhood when life is at it’s hardest. Check out their website for more information.
